Project Information

Well take a look…made from wood an paper plus a little paint….started with a 20in dia by 48in long paper tube an three filters from a local fleet truck service center.the filters are rated at 1100 cfms each so thats 3300cfms merv 15 at 99.99% with nano fiber..an a signatuer jet paint job to match..took about 2 months to round up all the parts my blower is rated at 1300 cfm so i should have enough.the outlet from the blower is 5in steped up to 6in for 10ft then steped up to 8in for 10ft to slow the air from pressure to volume i did notice a inprovement in sucshion…if u can,t get the air out..u can,t get it in…commets or questions welcome…after all….we are not JUST WOODWORKERS
THANKS FOR LOOKING.

That is a unique idea. Is the paper tube one used for cement forms?

Can you give us the filter part #, manufacturer or other details to track them down? I have an odd configuration that is difficult to buy filters for and I'd like to convert from the old bag. You can PM me if you think it might seem like advertising.
Great idea, thanks.

OK..i should have done a blog on building this filter. i,m gona build another so i,ll do a blog then in about a month.
the filters are donaldson EAF5069..P185069-016-546 FILTER MEASURES 15in long 13in dia..center hole is 7 1/2 they are sealed on one end so i took a razor blade an cut it out because of the way the air feeds. having a 7 1/2 hole on each leaves two openings for the air to release verses trying to force all the air out of one hole..the point is to move air in volume not pressure. i drive for ups freight (THE BIG TRUCKS) so pick up an deliver to mostly large companys an retail stores.so i,m always looking. the filters i used were take outs. they service trucks about every 6000 mls i blew them out with air an gorilla glued three togather..also got three more for spares so i can just change them out…a good place to check would be penski or ryder…or some where that leases big trucks.
the paint job was done by me by hand an some painters tape..

hope this info helps steve

Ok- I think this helps me get a pretty good idea of what I could do with my return air situation. I don't have the room for something this big though. I will have to start searching for these type filters. It looks like the filter assembly slides into the cylinder, and then simply screws to the wooden shut off cap…correct? Just on one end? The other end probably "fits" into the wooden cap? Excellent fit and finish. Jet should be sponsoring you!

I'm finally ready to go on this but I have a few questions. I guess you have it horizontal to save space. Is that correct? I have room for vertical but horizontal would be nice.

so…Where does the residual dust accumulate? and

How do you clean it?

Are there any improvements / alterations you would make after having it in service for a while?
