Project Information

Last Christmas day I made a small cross from the stump of our Christmas tree that I saved from the previous year. It was meant serve as a reminder of the past while living on into the future (You can see that project here). My Mom saw the cross and she asked if I could do the same with her Christmas tree from last year. The little 8" stump has been drying for the past 3 months and in the past couple of days I milled it into two sections for the cross and some 3/8" planks. I used the little planks to make an accomponying box. I added some mahogany but tried to make the little pine planks the focus of the box. Finish is BLO and paste wax.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice cross BUT that box is really nice. You did a great job on it and I really like how you have the "corners" done. Nice idea and I am gonna use it. Again, good work!

What a novel idea.

Repurposing a symbol of Christmas to a symbol of Easter.

Happy Holidays ;-)

The box is sweet! I've done some projects with Christmas trees. I love to be able to recycle them and carry on their legacy if but in a different way.
