Not usually an oak person but these look great! Good contrast between the woods and I really like the finishing touch of the natural tie around them.

In france, oak is pretty common
American dark walnut is less easy to find

Metos I like your boxes and I am curious as to how you finished the Wenge lids so that the recipients didn't fill their fingers with splinters?

thanks

for the lid I sanded it with 180 grain sand paper then 240.
and 2 coats of oil.
the surface is pretty smooth. I also smoothed the edge with sand paper.
