Project Information

I used all but the finial and center band of a chrome twist pen kit.
Used purpleheart and a piece of blue poly left over.
It's difficult to see but the nib end has a 3-sided feature in the wood.
I need to find a better way to cut in for the clip. This one has too wide of a slot.

I like it. I'm gonna have to try that on my next wood pen with one of the many pieces of acrylic I have left over. Thanks for the idea.

Nice! What holds the clip in place?

Thanks all for the comments.
The clip is a press-in tight fit but also has some CA glue in there to hold it in place. You would have to pry it out with a screwdriver and damage the wood in the process. I don't think it is going anywhere. The slot I made is wide enough for the ring part of the clip. It's not objectionable but not as neat as I'd like. What I'd really like is to find some clips that have a flat tang instead of a ring.
The plastic center piece was turned and formed using TBC bushings and spacers.
