Lovely file holder.
I will look at the blog, it seems like I need to make one of these soon.
What a bunch of sexy file handles, did you make them also?
Always a pleasure to watch your delicate ways.

MShort - Thank you.

Mads - No I didn't make the file handles. I bought one of each size saw file with handles attached from workshopheaven. They also sell them without the handles for when you need replacements.

Oh..er…delicate ways eh? I think you've got me mixed up with someone else my friend. :)

Great blog and photos, Andy. I saw a person selling some of these and I thought, I could make one of my own. Now I've seen your version and it's a much better model to follow. I will make one of these! Great work as always, or as Mads says "Wonderful!"

jeeze, even the saw set is nice and shiny. When posting a project like this you need to remove that square, it distracting.

That's a very nice set of tools you've compiled.

Thanks guys.

Don - That's how the saw set arrived from the seller. I bought two of them, one with a small striker for fine toothed saws and one with a bigger striker for hand saws.

Ryan - I like the look of Liberon Finishing Oil, but my God does it stink. The smell lingers for about 2 weeks. At least with BLO, the smell dissipates after a couple of days. i've got quite a bit of the finishing oil, so I've got to use it up somewhere.

Andy,

Very nicely done. And I enjoyed reading the blog as well. I've got to make one of these!

I enjoy sharpening my saws. I find it especially soothing when I've had a bad day at work. Sharpening a saw is what I call "mindless nug work". I just get into a rythum and I can just clear my mind. It is an art I am so glad my grandfather taught me to do.

Thanks again!

Cheers!

Ryan - I like the smell of BLO too, just not the Finishing Oil.

Fernando - Glad you enjoyed it.

Dave - Thanks for your comment. Nice to have another saw sharpener on board.

Philip - The square was made by Bridge City Tools, but I think they've stopped making them now. There was one on ebay a little while ago and it went for a ridiculous amount of money, simply because they are no longer made. I won't be selling mine though as I enjoy using it too much.

nice set up i need to make a set of totes for my files and i want to know if you really like that saw set i was told by Matt to get only one type the 42x so i got three of them one needs an anvil but the pin ios good he is going to set them up for me to do different saws and he said you have to file the pin down to fit saws with finer teeth and a high tpi count believe me i pick matts brain all the time I want to add that kind of work to the things i can do myself list and I only do that if I can duplicate the results of the pro its my understanding bridge city will be making a line of tools when money allows so they have pieces that were popular or are in demand the guys there are pretty cool I will be touring their plant with my press pass should be a lot of fun I have purchased a few antique saw jointers but have not cut one of my bastard files to fit it would ruin the file forever and the files i bought were from the original plant it the vintage boxes they are Nichols they are pretty speedy when you find the old ones they are supposed to be a lot better than anything made today no wonder my country is in a world of hurt our best days are behind us this sucks
