Project Information

Well, here's the final product for my saw extension. There are just a couple of tune-ups required but this is essentially it; it just requires the slots routed into the table for the sled runners. It's not crooked like it looks; the camera perspective just makes it look that way.

Looks good. Nicely done.

It will make your saw more enjoyable & safer to use. Is that what they call a "Win, Win" situation???

Nice job, one bit of advice, make the miter slots all they way to the end, you never know how big a sled you might use. I have heard a few people on here complain the didn't go all the way through and are paying for it now. I made mine all the way through and only utilized that length once, that one time mahe it worth it.

That's fantastic. I love people that can come up with designs like this. You obviously thought for quite some time about what you wanted to do. I think Marty is right, make sure you add the miter slots you will be glad you did.

Great job, thanks for sharing

Thanks guys. For the tools I have to work with, the materials I have to use, and other factors, I believe that it did come out alright. There are a few things that need my attention like anything one engineers. I have a difficult time assembling my thoughts because of high ammonia levels on my brain from the malfunctioning liver and it makes it difficult. I used to be so quick on my feet with my thinking in the fields of math, engineering and design but now I feel like a dud; encephalophic.
That's a great idea Martyroc about the miter slots and it will make it much easier to do. I believe I'll reinforce the table underneath since I'll be removing some of the strength by removing material all along the distance and making it thinner at those points.
You guys have to go and see this wooden engine; I'm going to build one of these. I built two steam engines of my own design in machine shop when I was in high school.
