Project Information
Well it started while I was reading Mafe's blog on the hand plane he built. I had a small blade just laying around the shop so I thought I'd give it a try. Used maple for the main body and walnut for the outer and an oak dowel. Cut a 45 degree for the plane to rest on, and curved the nose like Mafe suggested to help the shavings clear. Got the blade "scary sharp". I was purposing this plain for small tasks like beveling edges and the such, but to be honest, this thing can do some horse work considering the size ( hope you can see the shavings in the background in the second pic)!! I am extremely happy with how it turned out. The only thing I would change is the back end, I will make the next one have a bigger butt LOL for a more comfortable grip. I got it set for some really fine shavings, and it does well with beveling edges. While not the prettiest plane I've ever seen, its mine and it does the job I meant it for. Bad thing is, now I'm wanting to make more lol. Hope you like it, but if not I really dont mind haha.
