Project Information

I had this steak knift set kit I bought over a year ago and decided to finish it this year as a Christmas present. Had some Jobillo wood and did the handles then thought maybe should make a box for them. I had some ambrosia maple and walnut and used a leftover piece of jobillo for the box handle. I did the band saw box technique on resawing three laminated layers of maple then cut the knife shapes out of the middle layer. Sliced the cutouts to hold the knifes at the right height. I did the flocking thing on the knife holes. I applied orange shellac to color the maple to look old and then laquer on the box. General armor coat on the knife handles.

That is sharp. I really like it, so you said it is a Christmas gift - when should I expect it? :))

Seriously, nice box and knives.

As a matter of fact they are really sharp. I picked up one of the knives clamped for drying to get a measurement for the box and it guilotined my finger…nice holiday with a bandaged finger. Be careful.
