Project Information
This is another house sign completed for a home here locally. Carved signage really is a unique accent for a home or business and out side of the north east it really doesn't enjoy the exposure I think it could. It is an incredible way to get to know a client, as well as the best advertisement anyone could ask for.
This sign is made from Ohia, which is a very hard wood indigenious to Hawaii. I wanted to float the sign above the boulder which serves as the base. I scoured the slash pile at a local mill for a crooked log that would allow me to hang the sign up over the rock and after an hour and much cursing I was able to drag the piece to the edge of the pile.( Note to self: Don't take wife slash pile diving again) I painted the lettering area before I carved so that I would have clean crisp edges on the natural wood lettering.
