Project Information

This is the box that I made for our Cotton kitty. It is made from Aspen. I used dadoes on the top to slide the top on. The finish is danish oil medium walnut. Cotton was put to sleep this morning. She had lymphoma cancer. We took her to my Dad's and laid her to rest with the dogs that were buried there. Thanks for looking. Cotton is the white cat in the last photo.

Only a pet lover would understand why someone would make such a nice final resting box for their pet. I have, and will again someday, do the same.

Rick, I'm sorry for your loss. We are cat people, (5 right now - all rescue kitties).
We give our chosen few a home for the rest of their lives and do our best to take care of them.
I've had to build a few of those boxes too and it's always hard to do it through the tears, but I always know that they in a better place and out of pain.

Last spring I volunteered to build a box for my bosses old dog that had to be put down because of old age, arthritis, and incontinence. She was nearly 25 years old and deaf and blind. She was a sweet old girl and had become a close friend when she came to visit us.
Again, it was through the tears that I built the box and as always, put her favorite toys in it and even hid a little bit of her favorite snacks, (you know…. just in case).

Bless you my friend, my heart goes out to you and the family.
