Milling and glueing.

Milled up some nice boards of Ti Tree [melaleuca bracteata.]... that I bought at the Brisbane Timber and Working With Wood show in May… got them from Roderick Carins.

Nice timber.. very dense and very heavy… but by the time it was milled it was ok…

Here are the boards in clamps, glueing up to make a 600 mm blank… this will be cut into a circle later for a really spectacular Lazy Larry..

Follow along if you want.

Cutting the Ti Tree Round...

Once the glue was dry… I left the blank in clamps for 24 hours… to make sure…it was off to the bandsaw and onto the circle cutting jig..

Just a matter of rotating the blank on the pivot point….

And a few minutes later it is in the round…

Pop it through the drum sander, sand the edges using the circle sanding jig on the disc sander

A little mineral oil to bring out the colour and you can see how fantastic the grain really is..

... and all you really did was glue, cut, sand, finish!!

What could be simpler!

Very good!
