Very nice bowl. I know what you mean about the bark. I had a few that I abandoned to finish the edge because the bark did not like to stay on. I take it you turned it "green" to give that nice oval shape!
Nice job on it. The sap wood gives it such a nice contrast!!

Very Nice! I really like how the sap wood and heart wood complement each other…..now that I think about it, most all sap wood and heart wood are that way….isn't nature grand!

Great looking bowl. I love Hickory wood, the grain has a mind of it's own which makes each piece unique.

Thanks for the comments. I love the color and grain of hickory but it's a tough wood to turn and sand. I've made a couple of other bowls out of hickory that I haven't posted yet. I think I'll lay off of that wood for a while.

You did a great job and that is the finish I like on most of my projects. One thing to remember is when the tree was cut down. If it was cut on Oct - Mar the bark will stay on like a leach.
