Project Information

I made this project out of cherry and walnut with a bush oil finish.
The drawers are full through dovetailed.
Three of the rails on each side are mortised through the outside stile and pegged off.
There are also mortises in the corners of the doors.
The walnut drawer fronts and panels where re-sawed and book matched.

I also built the Corian top. It has a large ogee profile run one the bottom side, a cove back splash and a high gloss finish.

I made a google sketch-up of the project before i built it. If you have not yet tried it, you must!! Its free and some say better the ez cad.

I like it. Nice work. It will be interesting to see how the contrast changes when the cherry oxidizes.

Boy O Boy, that is some nice work Wrench!
That is an awful lot of joinery, but it sure came out pretty!
I bet it'll age gracefully too!
Nice job !

Quite nice. The top will take the typical abuse a vanity can get. The front of the cabinet will be a nice addition to the bathroom. It will be interesting to see how the Cherry looks as it ages with the Walnut. I enjoyed seeing your post. Thanks

Beautiful craftsmanship and I really like the contrasting woods! This will surely be a eye-catcher in the bathroom. Regardless of how much the cherry darkens, it will always have a contrasting color with the walnut.

Thank you all for your comments.

lanwater I got some Corian scraps from work. I work for a countertop shop.
The deck (top surface) is three pieces jointed and glued together.
There was 12 pieces glued together to made the hole top.

I like the design of this cabinet, especially with the curved sides. The exposed dovetails and wedged tenons look great, too.
