Project Information

After I made a recipe box for my daughter-in-law, she asked me to make one as a wedding gift for a close friend of hers. Since it was a wedding gift, I decided to put the interlocking rings on the lid. The box is cherry and the splines and rings are koa, and it features rounded sides. The box is sized to hold 4×6 cards and has spring steel wires from side to side to hold the cards upright. It is finished in hand-rubbed poly.

John,
Nicely done. I like the use of sapwood, and the interlocking rings on the lid is a really nice touch. Hopefully, the recipes will be as good as the box that holds them.

What a wonderful wedding gift and recipe box. That cherry is going to age nicely with a bit of time. I really like the overall feel and style here, with the rounded edges and splines, as well as the interlocking wedding bands on top.

Do you have any other pictures, particularly of the box open, showing the inside?

Sorry about the lack of additional pics. It was a bit of a rush-out-the-door project, so I threw it on the couch and took one picture. Next time….
