I got the last new toy I will get for a while. I bought Ryobi's 13" planer for the shop tonight. All I need now is some wood.
It looks and feel kind of cheap. Set up was ptting the crank handle on and putting it on a convenient bench. I'll add more when I have time to try it out.
No, the first project is going to be the entertainment center. After destroying a few practice boards of course. As for paying for itself, well maybe somdeway I will be good enough to sell stuff. Right now I just want to play around.
It looks like I am going to have a snipe problem until I can build an infeed and outfeed table for the Ryobi. I did some extra fence planks I happened to have lying around last night. Just wanted to play around. The ends of the boards were pretty badly sniped no matter how hard I worked at it. I also found that my jointer has a tendency to clog up when I am facing 6" boards. That put a damper on my evening. It was making the surface very rough when it started blowinbg back up through the blade cutout. I guess I will have to get a dust collector sooner than I planned.
