Hi All!
I only intended to just let you all know that I would be out of contact for a while although I am able to get internet access, I usually would never do anything other than checking my email.

First I should thank all of you for your prayers and thoughts.

One thing I did not mention before, was that my wife is with me, as she is a SARTEC2 as well and we are both part of the same urban search and rescue team. I kind of feel bad after the reaction from all of you that I did not include her in my original post. We both know that your thoughts and prayers are extended to us and everyone here.

BTW…..quick peave. Damn politicians show up for photo ops and to show how much they care, just piss me off. We are being delayed due to the arrival of some politicians that I will not name, one because I am pissed and two you will see them on the news today or tonight. You just do not know how many resources are taken away from the people who need it, because of this crap.

I promise to answer some questions that have been posted when we return. Till then, I will not be adding anymore to this blog. Also, I should tell you that it usually takes at least a week to decompress from a search. The physical and mental exhaustion is a lot to deal with.

You guys have truly overwhelmed us with your thoughts and prayers and we are humbled by it.

“You just do not know how many resources are taken away from the people who need it, because of this crap.”

.... or how many more resources get allocated TO the project because of their high profiles.

Each plays a role in disaster recovery. Theirs is to make sure the disaster in Haiti does NOT become yesterday’s news, and that disaster fatigue doesn’t stop American’s from giving.

[no more political-ish stuff from me….]

Godspeed to you AND your wife! If I could be there … I truly would.

wishing you both—and all the team—well.. and of course the people in need.
(good point re: cons and pros about photo ops.)
