Greetings all, The Woodworking Show is coming to Northern Virgina in just one more week. For those that may not be aware it is held at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, VA right off Route 28. I have the feeling the center itself is going to be quite crowed this year as the Woodworking Show is in one building and the National Capitol Area Boat Show is in the other one.

I am wondering what other LumberJocks are planning to go. I will be out there for sure on Friday and will be able to spend some time on Saturday as well, not sure yet about Sunday. Hope to be able to meet some of you out there. If anyone is up to it there is a good BBQ place on the other side of the parking lot, usally try to eat there whenever I am out that way.

I will be there on Friday.

BTW: it is in the North Hall (boat show in East) so that would be the building to the left (directly behind the Holiday Inn).

I’ll be there all weekend in my booth. I’ll be doing my dovetail demos as well as showing folks how to carve scallop shells. Make sure you stop by the booth and hang out.

Karson! You coming or what?

I was thinking about going on Saturday morning as well. I never miss it and look forward to it all year. I hit the Baltimore show a few months back. I also noticed that it was timed perfectly with the boat show. Should be a zoo.

Quick question: How do you spot a fellow LJ in a sea of people? Would love to meet some of you all in person.

Jesse, It does start at noon on the 11th.

McLean, What Karson has done several times at Baltimore is use my booth as a meeting point. You’re welcome to tell folks approximately what time to meet you there. You can hang out for a bit (maybe I’ll get you to cut some dovetails to pass the time) and we’ll see how many LJs wander into the booth. It’s not as tasty as Chris’ suggestion but it has seemed to work for Karson over the years.

Hey All, Glad to hear there will be a number of other LJs there. Meeting up around Chuck’s both is always a good thing. It looks as if I will be out there for some portion of all 3 days. Hope to catch up to some of you.

I will be there on Saturday from 1 – 5 PM. The Northern Virginia Carvers will have a table and will have carvings on display as well as demonstrating carving. Stop by and check us out. We are looking for new members all the time whether you are a carver or wanting to learn how to carve. We get together on Thursdays at the Woodcraft Store in Springfield, VA.

You have to be sure and say Hi to Andy Chidwick. A great woodworker that is generous with sharing the knowledge. A super guy all around. You can see it in the whole family as they travel the WoodWorking shows together.

This is all we have coming to the Chantilly show? There HAS to be more Lumberjocks headed to the show than this! In Springfield, MA Lumberjocks even had their own booth. Chantilly has always had a ton of great woodworkers in the area. So come on out and make this the best showing of Lumberjocks yet!

Karson, you and Dave coming or what?

And Todd, I’m not even going to ask about the excuse for this one…

I bet there will be more LJs than we’re hearing from on this blog. It’s also a great venue to spread the word about joining LJs. Due to some weekend schedule shifting, I’m going to attend on Sunday. I also am bringing my wife along so that she can experience what one of these events is all about. I think she’ll get a kick out of it and will hopefully continue to support my addiction to shop time. She will also be inspired to set me up with a giant list of honey-dos after seeing some of the amazing masters of woodworking. See you all there. I’m tough to miss at 6’6”, olive baseball cap with a 6’2” wide-eyed blonde wife in tow. Excited to chat with a few of you.

Well, Looks like a number of will be there. Due to several different people wanting to go on my end I will actually wind up there all three days for at least some portion.
I am hoping to meet up with you all. Not entirely sure as to what I will be wearing, but the hat I will have on is a CCC (Civilian Conservation Corp) ball cap, more then likely with my sunglasses on it.

Chuck, I’ll stop by tomorrow afternoon for sure.

Looks like I will be there on Saturday and maybe on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing Chuck and Chris again. Not sure how long I’ll be able to stay, just had a knee replacement a couple of months ago. I’ll have my red Sooners ball cap on. PM if you want my cell number to set up a meeting time.
