Help with a Piano - 5 replies Has anyone had any experience with taking apart an upright piano? I’m wanting to repurpose the cabinet so I don’t want to take a sledge to the whole thing. My big concern is how to safely remove the harp (weighing in at about 300 pounds). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks |

Mobile lumberjocks.com? - 7 replies It’s been a little while since I’ve been on, so I don’t know if this has been covered already, but does anyone know if there is a mobile version of lumberjocks.com in the works? Right now I’m on my Blackberry and it would be great if the site was easier to view on a mobile phone. |

Business marketability research in a specific area - 7 replies So, it’s been a little while since I’ve posted anything in a while, so I feel I should let you all in on some news. It looks as though the Army will not be keeping the Arts & Crafts Center here open much longer. For those of you that don’t know, I run the wood shop at an Army Arts & Crafts Center attached to Walter Re... |

Capt. Phil Harris, Rest in Peace - 8 replies For those of you who are fans of the Discovery Channel show The Deadliest Catch were shocked, as I was, to hear of the passing of Phil Harris, captain of the Cornelia Marie. Our thoughts and well wishes go out to the Harris friends and family. Phil, you will be missed. The Bering Sea won’t be the same without you. |

Winter 2010, Baltimore - 2 replies So, I thought I’d share some photos of the snow that was dumped on my yards this past weekend. This is the to show how deep it got in my front yard. At it’s deepest, near the house, it got to 29 inches, closer to the street it only got to about 20 inches. These are the snow drifts in my front and back yards, I just thought... |

Worst Job in a Wood Shop - 28 replies Here I am, taking a quick break from the one job I have to do in the shop that I just hate. We have a decent size shop here at the Arts & Crafts Center, and with it we have a decent size dust collector. The collection bins are four 55 gallon drums. And today I’m emptying them. But that by its self isn’t so bad, what makes thi... |

Scroll Saw Blades Keep Snapping - 7 replies Hey all, I’ve got an older Delta scroll saw. Now, I’ve never really been one to do much scroll saw work but I got Diana Thompson’s book “Wooden Chess Sets You Can Make.” In it, she uses a scroll saw to cut the pieces out. The plans call for a piece of wood that’s 1.5” square and I’m using maple ... |

Need some help with a non "woodworking" issue. - 1 reply A week ago I was walking through my living room while my wife was taking a shower and I heard a ticking sound coming from the ceiling. Upon closer inspection I discovered that my shower drain’s been leaking for a while. I fixed the leak (I hope) but now I have two smallish holes in my ceiling. This is where the “non woodworking... |

Just the general stuff. I’ve re... |
