So you now have this metal triangle thing, that we call a square, and it has numbers and markings all over it. Here is an introduction on how to start using it.

Nice video, Chris. The speed square and the framing square have a lot of information on their faces, most of which I don’t know how to use. I admit that I did not know about the simple angles on the speed square.

Hello Christopher, I noticed your intro to the speed square blog. Here is a link to a book written by Robert Scharff that I reviewed, posting on the website some time ago that I think you may find interesting.

The first chapter gives a comprehensive explanation about what all of the markings are for on the framing square. It also entails many of the uses for a square and how to use the information in a practical manner. The book is written in plain and easy to understand language that makes it a valuable tool for just about anybody. I hope it helps you as much as it as helped me.
