- UPDATE
I am going to have to move the date of the picnic to July 26 due to some work obligations that the Army has imposed on me at the last minute. I will be out of town till July 22.
I have been out of town the last week and a half and I’m sorry that I have been unable to respond to many messages and inquiries about the picnic.
Hopefully some good comes out of it. Several LumberJocks mentioned that the original June dates confilicted with their schedules.
Who: All Washington State Lumberjocks & their families, any other interested lumberjock that will be in the Seattle area on July 26, 2008.
What: Washington State Lumberjock Picnic.
When: July 26, 2008 1 p.m. till ???
Where: Lynnwood, Washington at the home of Chamoruboy (Peter Santos) – Lots of parking available.
Why:
1st – for Lumber Jocks to meet & greet & share stories & experiences, advice, and projects.
2nd – to collect toy donations for Child Haven in Seattle, an organization that assists children affected by drug abuse and addiction and physical, mental, and emotional abuse.
3rd – Any other reason you can think of – if you want to participate in the picnic and want to have a particular activity at the picnic, please let me know so we can coordinate in advance. I know for sure we’ll at least have a horse shoe pitching contest.
How: By potluck. I will provide Red rice, sausages, & pork spare ribs. Drinks & other side dishes are welcome. We have an Albertson’s up the street with a deli where folks can pick up some fried chicken or potato salad or a good number of other picnic items. If you are not the cooking type, this is a good option for you.
If you have any special diet needs, please let me know in advance.
I will take suggestions and begin sorting out the menu now so if you want to volunteer a dish, let me know and I’ll post the menu and update it as we get more items added to it.

This is the same day as a party for my daughter—graduating from high school. Any chance we can pick a different day?

mgradwohl – we selected the 21st because of another person’s graduation party on the 14th. However, if no one objects – we can make it on the 22nd which is a Sunday.
Thoughts everyone???

Chamoruboy,
Somewhere between June 17 and the 30th there is a small chance I will be in Seattle and would like to come to the potluck. I have family there and had planned to visit for a couple days on my way to or from Alaska (thus I’m not sure yet what days I will be in Seattle).
Can you PM me some contact information so if I do make it around that date I can check for changes and directions?
It sounds like fun.
Thanks
SM

Either day that weekend (21st or 22nd) looks good to me! You may want to PM the respondents from the first post to get a better picture…

I should be able to be there, and either day works for me too.

Shoot! My daughter is getting married on the 21st in Cabo, so I can’t attend. Next time maybe.

Hi Peter,
There were a number of dates (6/21 and 6/22) mentioned in the above discussion for the Seattle area potluck.
Has a firm date been set?

I would love to attend this pinic. I myself am a disabled private forester and would love to help out with this. I live west of Longview about 2 hours south of you. I might even bring another lumberjock with me.
