I got some free cedar wood the other day. It was in the burn pile on the bottom I tied a strap to pull it out. It was a 12 foot log about 20” across the butt. I sawed it into 4’ sections so I could haul it in my truck. I blocked some of it up for turning blanks. I guess the rest I will saw up into lumber to make stuff (lol) !!! Just think someone was going to burn it.

CD,

Nice save on the cedar.

Like your signature quote. We used to have a sign in the shop on the ship “If we can’t fix it, it ain’t broke!”

I too salvaged a 12ft cedar log last year. Took it to the mill and am very impressed how great the grain is. I had it all cut into 2 inch slabs. I wish I would of had half of it cut to 1 inch.
