80 tooth blade question - 14 replies

I have an 80 tooth blade (10”) for my tablesaw that I bought for the fine cuts. However, no matter the thickness, I get much burning. Today I was cross-cutting at 1/4 thick boards and the burning was significant. The saw has a 13 amp, 1HP motor. Is this a problem where I need more power to get good cuts with this fine of a blade? TIA

Need expertise help - 7 replies

So, I have been building these boxes for Christmas presents. This is the second of my Clemson Tiger Paw boxes. The method I use is to build mitered corners all around into a complete box and then saw off the lid using my table saw. Very standard affair. It’s about that time again. IWF 2012 is in a few weeks and I want to see who from Lumberjocks is planning to go? I’ll be there and this is no stretch as it is a 25 minute drive for me. I’ve attended many trade shows for different industries and IWF is among the largest of the shows I’ve seen. Every inch of available...

question about hand planes - 27 replies

I am a novice on hand planes for sure and I am interested in getting a decent hand plane for joining boards. I see this done all the time on wood working videos where two boards are clamped vertically and then edge-planed at the same time. My question: What is a good hand plane to start with for this? I want to get the right type and of co...
