yeah, i know, i am a woman in a male dominated occupation. i loved helping my dad with projects around the house. even though, he's gone, i'm still making furniture and i don't intend to slow down any time soon. i started with outdoor structures, then indoor storage. one day i bought a book about carving and for years i carved rocking horses and carousel art. as you know, just when you get comfortable in woodworking, there's a zillion other things that you haven't even tried yet.
i took a bowl turning class and wow fell in love with that lathe. i still make lamps, i've made well over a hundred, and actually feel bad if i don't have a lamp sitting waiting to be turned.
two years ago, i added rocking chairs to my "must do before you die" list. i've made about twenty chairs, which led to benches. although i make cabinets, i feel more in tune with my work when i'm working with projects that don't involve squares or rectangles.
