Working general contractor since 1982. Recently back in the NW after a 4 year "working vacation" on Maui. Built a spec house in Wailea, finished it May 2008, you can figure how that went. Aaaaarrrggghhhh! Spent most of my time there trimming homes for people with way too much money. Before that built log and timber frame homes, custom houses with some light commercial mixed in. Always tried to carpenter as much as I could.
Entering a new, refined stage in my career I hope. Trying to hone skills and make a living doing it The more tools I buy the better carpenter I think I am. Not quite the case. Need to think more and build less. Getting better at that.
I think true carpenter wisdom is knowing how little you know.
