As you all know
This week-end was the start of TOWN wide yard sales.
At first I did not want to go
The weather was windy, cold and I am at the end of the month (Flat a$$ broke)
These start at 7AM, my wife asked me at 9:30 why I wasn’t going ?
After explaining why, she said she needed to get out of the house.
Starting late , I thought all the good stuff would be gone.
I had $5 in my pocket.
The first 5 places she was picking up items for $1 (This lady has a knack for bargains). My $5 wasgone and I hadn’t seen anything.
At 10am I stopped at the bank.(mistake) I now had $20, she picked up cash too. We walked to about 50 different places, she found items she wanted and I was striking out. THEN it happened. The trammel points were in a box that he guy was selling with an old rockwell table saw. I asked if he would sell them seperatly ? Sure, give me $2. SOLD.
Down the next street I spotted a craftsman router table. I have 18 routers and a few of them are mounted in their own table. He wanted $20 – “will you take $10” .....SOLD. He asked if I have a dovetail machine. I DO ,but never say never. He told me he bought his 10 years ago for $180. and never used it.I said I wouldhave to go to the bank because I have no more money BUT how much were you asking for it? He paused and said $20…... I asked my wife if she had $20. SOLD… The next door neighbor had a 2 hole KREG jig and bit (I broke my bit last week, dropped my drill on floor and the tip broke, went to LOWES and new one is $21.)He had $10 on it. I tried $5…..he is Dutch and wouldn’t bidge, I tried $8 cause that is all I had in my pocket, he looked at my wife and said maybe she has 2 more dollars. OKAY sold for $10, I was happy, I just wanted to try for lower price.
By this time it was 2pm and people were starting to clean up.
As I was carrying my quality merchandise back to truck I spotted a craftsman dust collection hood for radial arm saw. He wanted $5. I asked if he would take everything I had in pocket. Sure he said. cleaned out my pocket and gave him $1.13.
On the way out of town my wife wanted to go back to first place ansd see an item she was interested in. They were still there, the item was there, she tried the lower price…...........I watch aMerican Pickers and laugh when they do the package deals….........So I tried….........we will give you what you want for her item and throw in that OLD CEDAR front door with 4 pane window in it….............(They watched the show too and we all laughed). SOLD.
For NOT wanting to GO, it ended up a GOOD DAY !
