Sometimes you just have to do things. IThis is one of the first planes I bought on ebay, several years ago. When it arrived the nose was broken off. The brake looked fresh, I am thinking our “Fine Postal System” was careful when handling this parcel. (uh huh) Any way, I ended up with a broken stanley 78. I NEVER throw things away, it sat around a few weeks, I bought another one, realized they were not real comfortable when planeing things, no where to rest my hand at the front, a bit of filing, sanding,re-painting and this is what I ended up with. I carry it around in my daily work tool box, amazed at how many times I reach for it and use it.
