Who out there has a crafstman model 137.279590 band saw. I went to the auction and got this one for $120. It comes with 3 new blades, 1 1/2 hp motor. Heavy as heck. To me it is larger than my rockwell Beaver that I bought WAY back. So far I am happy. Will it rip 5” cedar logs ?
There is a small picture of the new band saw when the guy bought it from sears. It sold for $799.
There were 2 bands saw there .One outside, a little rusty, only 1 extra blade. It sold for $240. Mine was inside, cleaner and I expected it would sell for $300 +. Oh well ?
I also waved my hand too many times on a DELTA 12” thickness planer. Model 22-540OC Type 2. It only has 2 knives. It came with one set of new blades. The review I read talked about very good rating ! I know it is old. I am not willing to pay 5 or 6 hundred dollars until I am sure I will use it a lot ! I am leaning towards HAND tools so tonight I am asking myself WHY ?
Bought some 1/4 sawn oak, CHEAP.
Tonight was a good night.

Great finds at the auction!! I have a Craftsman 14” bandsaw but not that model. I don’t see any reason why yours couldn’t rip 5” cedar logs. I rip up to 7” diameter logs with mine using my log sled and a woodslicer blade.

I can’t speak for that particular model, but the 10” Craftsman benchtop band saw is a piece of junk.
