Had to pick my wife up from the Airport in Major city close to us. I left 2 hours earlier than I needed to , wasn’t sure what the traffic was going to be like. No Traffic, got to Airport 2 hours Early. LEE Valley Tool happens to be 2 blocks from Airport. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. There I went. Amazing how 2 hours passes quickly in a tool shop. People Like me should NOT BE ALLOWED to go into these places. I have been building for many many years, and it is very nice to see the NEW tools and technology available NOW. And I think I did very well, I actually left without buying anything. Me, In a tool shop and DID NOT BUY anything. Told my wife what I did, she thinks I need to go for therapy, it just doesn’t sound normal ! Have any other LJ’s ever gone to tool shop and NEVER bought anything ?
Keep smiling and Happy building !

Yes, actually. I went into Harbor Freight about 3 weeks ago, looking for some small stuff to replace on my truck. Found a few things, but realized I didn’t have any money that I could use, so I just spent an hour and a half looking and listing everything I could get from there.

Yes I go to our over priced woodworking tool store every so often. I have decided to negotiate all my purchases, lately I have been really successful their. I wish we could negotiate our purchases at Borg and Lowes.

I have, but only because I didn’t have any money or a credit card with me.

My habits usually start with picking something up and walking around with it. Most of the time I place it back on the shelf simply because I do not have the money or there is no need for it at that time. This habit I was able to imprint upon my wife. It works, most of the time.
I would not be able to imagine how many more shelving units I would need in my shop if I actually purchased everything I carried around in stores!

The problem I suffer from is the lack of any descent woodworking tool stores anywhere near where I live. The only options are the Home Depot and Lowes stores…and they really don’t count as a fine woodworking tool store.
I am stuck with online tool purchases and it is nowhere near as fun as holding and drooling on a tool before buying it.

I like wandering around in tools and hardware store, just look see look see. I used to have one or two tools/hardware picture in my pocket (normaly I printed it directly from on-line store) – thing that I definitely very sure they don’t have on their selves. When the store assistant approched me (either genuinely wanted to help or just too curious) I would be able show the “thing” that I’ve been looking for for hours in their store. This trick works, I actually cheating myself…LOL.
90% (approx) of my tools/hardware purchases are from online stores – LV, MLCS, Woodcraft, EagleAmerica, Woodpeck, PeachTree, Timberline, TFWW etc etc.etc…...

I usually only go to stores like that with a purpose, so I rarely leave with nothing unless they don’t have what I want on hand.

My wife has to hold my hand (and wallet) when I go into Lee Valley.
