Just came home from our local home and Garden show. I feel like I have been locked away in a time capsule for to long. Kitchens are now either “Disposable , cheap, quick in style today” cabinets or are “furniture NICER than the neighbor has” Beautiful pieces , BUT how many people want to spend $90,000 for new kitchen cabinets ? SO ONCE again the mid – range cabinet maker NO LONGER gets the work. Example: Went to “BIG CHAIN STORE” to price out doors only, the “SO CALLED DESIGNER” was trying to get rid of me, she was BOOKED till next thursday, she wanted to get home today.”It was 4pm”. Personally if you can’t take an extra 15 minutes in the day, I probaly won’t be back . While I was listening to her talk to previous clients she stated how she had professional people install there cabinets ? The sign outside building said “Help wanted ,people to deliver and install , no experience necessary, will train” WHOOPS got side tracked again…...All i wanted was 4 cabinets that need to match kitchen from 15 years ago. The cabinet shop in city said they could STILL do it, going to be 5 weeks and $500. The client needs the work done by May 1. (Whoops) The raw material will cost me $60-80. Leaves me $420 to cover my labor. Simple choice I think. Matching color to 15 year weathered finish might use a few test pieces, but it can happen.Am I loosing my confidence because I no longer do this everyday ! I am second guessing my new challenges that I once thrived upon. !
