This is a picture frame that I made awhile back. Need a good home to house a picture of my three granddaughters – Maggie, Anna and Sarah. The frame is made of Maple with a Rosewood inlay. It is about 8” x 10”. The picture make it looks like there are some runs in it, but it actually has a pretty good finish on it.

No, it’s not for my house. My oldest son, an avid guitar player and collector, asked me to carve something to put in his “guitar room”. He’s got it so bad that when he built his new house he dedicated a room for his guitars and sound proofed it so he could play to his heart’s content (bless him, he lives right across the street from me). This was carved with the CarveWright on some Cherry. I had several pieces of 1” – 1 1/2” pieces lying around and glued up this panel.

The dished Fleur di Leis was carved on my CarveWright machine. 3 coats of Wipe on Poly. I still have to trim the brass pins on the hinges.

Made this little Sassafras box from some wood that I picked up in Arkansas several years ago. The box is full of Firsts for me – to read more about all of that check my Blog on this box. I don’t think this box is perfect – but I did learn quite a bit making it and that is always a good thing.

Built this storage case to keep my drill bits and stationary drill stand accessories in. Haven’t mounted it to the wall yet. Nothing fancy, just made a standard box, with butt joints and cut the doors out. There are two doors, one front and one back – I will mount the back door to the wall and load up all of the bits. Made from HD cheap pine – no finish. I may put hand rub Poly finish on it.

JEWELRY TRAY

My darling bride (of 39.8 years) asked me to make her a tray to put on her dresser. She wanted a place to keep her everyday items (earrings, rings, watch, rosary, etc.) in. I came up with this box for her. The woods are Hickory and Paduck. I finished it with 2 coats of Minwax Wipe on Poly. This project included two firsts for me – the keyed miters and the divider. I think it came out alright, but not the perfect piece I wanted :-)). I’m working through Bob Stowe’s Basic Box Making book and video. I have pretty much finished making all of the jigs and sleds – now off to the shop to make some boxes that Don will like – Small Boxes.

Here are a few pens that I turned on my lathe. The first is turned from a piece of Aluminum, the second is a Black and White Acrylic, third is Cherry Burl, Fourth is a Black & Orange Swirled Acrylic, fifth is another Cherry Burl, sixth is Ambrosia Maple, seven & eight are more Acrylics.
The wood pens are sanded to 1200 grit and finished with a French Polish while turning on the lathe. The Acrylic pens are sanded, sanded and sanded – then I sand a little more and finally finish with an Acrylic Polish while spinning on the lathe – same with the Aluminum pen. Pictures aren’t the best, sorry.

I can’t recall the species of the plaque – can anyone out there name that species? The hands were carved on my CarveWright machine – the plaque was routed on my router table. The hands are mounted to the plaque by screws, from the back side.
