Any of you LumberJocks out there have any experience with the Easy Wood Tools (for turning)? I have been reading the reviews and finally pulled the trigger and ordered a couple of them – the Mid Size Rougher and the Mid Size #1 Hollower. Hope it makes turning a little more enjoyable (if that’s possible). Just wondering what others think of them.

Bill, I have the mini-rougher and mini-smoother. They really make turning a whole new ball game. Very easy to use, and very forgiving. Now I’m sure a purist will tell you that a full set of traditional chisels (and the expert technique to go with them) is more versatile. But I find it hard to practice with my regular tools when the Easy tools are so… well… easy.

Thanks Charlie, I knew that you had a couple of them – I am happy that you go along with all the other reviewers that have used them – they love them. I know that the purist will think that it’s not true turning, but as long as then end product comes out right – nobody will ever no the difference :-) I can’t wait to get them in my hands to have a go at them.

I tried out a friends set and I can say for me personally I didn’t like them. I wont say that I don’t recommend them. I say try them and see if they work for you.

Bill, I believe the traditional tools will give you a better and faster cut, but the ease of using ewt tools makes turning a lot easier. Its like cheating on the wood. Enjoy them.

I have and use several. Large rougher and finisher, mini finisher and mini detailer and mid size hollower #3 and one of their face plates.

It’s all good stuff.
