I’m tellin’ ya, anyone can make a cedar strip canoe. It’s hard to make an ugly one. You mix cedar, redwood and varnish and and it’s hard to go wrong.

That’s why I’m offering an affordable class this winter at our Burly Canoe shop in Duluth, MN. You get your own boat, class instruction, and 5 months of shop space to work on your canoe, all for $1600. Visit Burlycanoes.com for more details.

Last winter, a bunch of guys bought tobacco pipes and cranked nautical music as they built their boats. It was too cool. Testosterone levels were high.

For anyone in the area, stop by the shop in the alley below 45th Ave E and Superior. Call ahead and I’ll make sure I’m out there. 218-940-1974

That’s a pretty generous deal by today’s standards. A boat, space, and instruction over 5 months? Too bad you weren’t a few thousand miles closer. I wish you a full complement of students.

Although I am too far away (wish I was closer) I would like to see you blog this event. I have a secret desire to build a cedar strip canoe. I’d love to watch the progress of your students.
