I have used quite a bit of this. I'm not big on using different finishes (because I'm not good at finishing) and I like Zinsser because it works good for me. I just don't have the problems with it that I do with other finishes. If I do make a boo boo though, this easily sands down so I can fix it.
I am not quite sure which is which however. I have used the clear shellac and the amber. Now all I will use is the clear. The one time I accidentally picked up the amber at the store, the results were not what I expected.

You are right about sanding sealer. I use it by the gallon. I find it is important to get lots of air around it after you apply it so it will dry evenly. I found it loads sandpaper pretty fast especialy if it is not completly dry. I have a 25 X 60 wide belt sander and I use a loaded 180 or 220 belt to polish all flat sanding sealer surfaces and it is smooth. Curved surfaces I use a loaded hand buffer. Another Idea I like is I keep the same brush in a tall cottage container with a slit in the lid with 1/3 alcahol, 1/3 ammonia and 1/3 water. I shake it out and replace it in the container after use. The brush is 2 years old.
