Thanks Everyone for the warm welcome everyone! I just a young guy that is a beginning woodworker. So if anyone has any tips and suggestions let me know!! The project that I am working on now is a wooden tub. I am using 8/4 red oak and building what is essentially big square box. Right now I am glueing up the wood together to make all the sides.

Side Glue Up

Now I know what your thinking. Wood and water don’t mix. In the past when people have built wooden tubs it was left completely finished. The water would swell to make a water tight seal. In my case after I build my tub box I will put on several layers of epoxy.

If I am unsure of the strength of the joints I may epoxy a sheet of fiberglass around the whole thing. Kinda like a kayak. Actually I am thinking of this as an anti-boat. Hold the water in don’t let it out!

(Works well on the kiteboards I have built)

I have seen some great looking projects on here and looking forward to seeing some more!

Interesting. What are you going to use the tub for?

If it works well and holds water a bathtub.

I got the idea from looking at Japanese soaking tubs – Ofuros. Such as the one here http://www.driftwood.ie/gallery12.html

Nice idea. Nothing like a hot soak.

a wooden tub… now that’s one I’d like to see….

-- I've cut that board three times and it's still too short!
