My wife and our daughters were recently in Moscow and Novosiibirsk visiting her family and friends before Christmas. Turning Douglas Fir - 9 replies

I’ve been asked to turn 26 deck rail post, 3” wide x 34” high out of Douglas Fir. The person that asked me to do this has a whole pile of 4×8 Douglas Fir post that he wants me to use. I’ve never turned Douglas Fir. Any pros and cons would be greatly appreciated.

Automation. Taking jobs aways from the skilled - 54 replies

Maybe not this particular one but this is where jobs are going and not coming back as rapid as technology is improving. My wife and I visited a large distribution warehouse recently. 5 yeas ago it had over 300 employees and today, only 5 employees that monitor the robots. Only a few lights on in this huge building.
