I was aware that I had a talent for working wood since the 8th grade, but never had the opportunity to cultivate those skills until 2003, when I decided to turn my two car garage into a wood shop. Ever since, it has been an obsess.... uh... passion. I like to think that I represent what is possible to any serious amateur woodworker, and that although I have accomplished a skill level of a professional, that there is still much to learn.

When I first setup shop in 2003, I though that I already new everything there was to know about woodworking from my experience in high school shop class. (Yeah, right.) Here I am six years later, and my "things-to-learn-and-do" list has only gotten longer. Perhaps this is what keeps me interested in Woodworking. I thoroughly enjoy constantly pushing my skills to their limits. It does not always work out well and sometimes I wonder what I got myself into, but I would rather try and fail than not try at all—and I always come out wiser at the other end of the project. In the words of Michelangelo, "The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it."

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless

Thanks once again for the warm welcome. I hope that I have much to both offer and learn here at Lumberjocks. I find that now matter how much I think I know, there is always so much yet to learn about Woodworking. In fact, I am now finding out how much one can learn from teaching subjects about which I thought I new everything—thought, that is, until folks start asking questions. LOL I also find that sharing ideas results in ‘learn-back’, that is, I provide someone with an idea or solution, they take that idea and expand on it, then I learn something back in return.
