It's Slow Going...

I haven’t been posting very much lately but I have been lurking when I get the chance. My bookcase project is coming along. However, besides being slow to begin with, I have something else to take up a lot of my time. My dad, who is 84 years old, slipped on a piece of ice and took a very bad fall almost 2 weeks ago. He broke his arm in 2 places and needed surgery to have it set. He also broke his shoulder and there’s a hairline fracture in his pelvis. He finally got out of the hospital yesterday and was moved to a convelesing facility. Once his pelvis heals they will start giving him therapy. The doctor told me that it would be 2 to 3 months before he will come home. And so I’ve been very busy driving my mom, who is 85, back and fourth to see him. It’s a good thing they live right next door to me as it saves me quite a bit of running around.

But I have been able to find a couple of hours here and there to work down in the shop. My concentration was bad before all this happened and it seems that it has gotten even worse since then. I wasted $30 worth of wood the other day because of a stupid overlook. Because it was all screwed and glued up there was no way I could salvage it. Oh well… it just made me be more careful. My second attempt went a lot better. As things start to come back to being somewhat normal I find that I’m really enjoying this project. I’m trying to figure out how I can post a couple of pics that show my progress. Hopefully I’ll get it.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, they are ,and should be, your priority. You’re doing the right thing, you can always get more wood. Just don’t get too sidetracked when using power tools, be safe. JIM
