Completed the wagon vise today. Here is the underside:

I flipped the top over and bolted it down:

Then planed everything flush with the top:

I bought a wood owl “overdrive” bit for drilling the dog holes. It was a bit grabby and needed chips cleared to continue drilling, but worked great overall. Here is the jig I made for drilling them square and aligned:

And it’s done!

Some test planing, it holds the pieces really solid without any lifting off the bench:

So satisfying. The holes also work for holdfasts:

I am about to build a nicholson bench, and this looks like what I want to do. How has the vise held up over the year? Looks straight forward.

The vise is still working well. There is a bit of flex on the mount. If I did this again, I think I would buy a commercial acme vise screw. Woodcraft has some cheap ones.
