Hi,

I am making a standing desk for our home. The wood is on the way and I am trying to prep.

I am totally new at finishing wood and working with black walnut.

I own 43” of the wood from the bottom and it is 21” at the widest part.

So I think I am gonna use Watco danish oil in the natural color and I already have satin arm-r-seal on the way.

I understand that the dust is toxic so I plan on sanding outside. I am suffering a mid-west winter in the USA, would taking the wood outside to sand harm it in any way? The humidity can be above 60%.

I hope to keep the project simple and still do the wood justice. I don’t know if I should buy sanding tools. I don’t mind if the table isn’t perfectly flat.

Thanks!
