The box is almost ready for glue up. My daughter wanted to make something and i had some small cedar blocks lying around. We got the it all ready to glue up, but i needed to chisel out where the hinges go, hence the seven stitches. Well i learned something today, chisel’s are sharp and will cut you lol. i guess i knew that but needed some negative reinforcement.so anyway the kids now know how to sew skin and daddy’s tetnous( yeah i can’t spell that one) shot is now current. Safety is often a series of mistakes..not clamping the board…..not having 2 hands on the chisel…..trying to make the tool do too much. Anyway be careful folks. I got lucky and did it with a hand tool and only a little pain and suffering. You can all have all have a good laugh now, I have. and I will always be more careful with my chisels.
Flickr isn’t co operating so no photo attached( it was just a hand with a finger wrapped in gauze)

Before using any tools lets take a moment to talk about shop safety, be sure to read and understand all the safety rules that come with your tools. and remember there is no more important safety rule than to wear these safety glasses :-) Didn,t you read the safety label that came with you chisels? ( comment made with tongue planted firmly in cheek) get well soon.

Good one Kiwi! Bluchz, I thought it was only dull chisels that injured. I’ll have to be more careful. Thanks for posting the warning and hope you heal quickly.

Ouch… Been there, done that, got the gnarly scars reminding me everyday. 30 years of perch carving and more than my share of tetanus shots.

Heal well my brother :)

We all have been there! Live and learn so far.
Get right back on that horse/chisel.

Kiwi, You ARE Norm in disguise, aren’t you?

Look around, you’ll find many an injury to make you feel better about your 7 stitches, here at LJ. From personal experience, table saws hurt a lot more than chisels do.
