Finally got started on a box im making for my wifes mother’s ashes, i spent 9 hours on a sunday with spalted maple and my scroll saw and every evening the following week with a set of palm carving chisles and alot of patience, time to break grain on the ziricota, terrifying prospect on account of the price of the lumber, but…. I’ve decided to try out this video thing. This is my first and it is very basic. It just shows my intent with making these small brass hammers. These will be used for adjusting plane blades mainly. I found a posting in the ‘Free’ section of Craig’s List for some scrap wood piled up next to the curb. It was on a street just a few streets over from where I live. So… I ran over and this is what I found on the curb… And here’s more of it loaded in my truck… And a closeup of the mesquite… Here’s a closeup of the maple burl I found in the pile… It’s the best Craig’s List score I’ve ever ...
Well i just got a commission for a picture frame from a friend of the families. they want it to be made out of hickory to match their cabinets and they want the design to be the same as that of their cabinets. here is what i came up with on sketchup. so i just ordered the wood from Goosebay Lumber which i have tried before and i was happy with what i got so i figured that i would go back to them. as always though i treated myself to some other small pieces of wood along with my order. ...
