I had a nice weekend. Saturday I worked with a local cabinet maker helping him catch up on his schedule. We are nearly finished with the 3rd kitchen cabinet job, and then he will be caught up. I think I have worked about 8-9 days this summer with him on Saturdays.
Sunday was relaxing, went to church and then home with the family, and a nap. A nap makes a lot of things better for some reason (not to take anything away from church).

Just a quick note to show a photo of an important new addition to the shop. Last Fall a neighbor said that they had a large window air conditioner that I could have if I wanted it.
I waited all Fall, Winter, Spring, and half of the Summer, but did get the big unit installed this week. We have had a very mild Summer here in Kansas, with lots of rain, cloudy days, and cooler weather than normal. So, why rush into installing the window a/c unit?

When designing the shop I tried to anticipate the type of work we would be doing. Looking back, I wasn’t even close.
However, in spite of that, the work flow is very much the same for many woodworking projects. Our shop is laid out considering that work flow.
Our entrance door is where we unload both sheet goods and solid lumber. We stack the lumber on stickers, prior to use, and the plywood is placed on a drywall cart.

I have been looking for a sharpener for a while and came close to coughing up $250 for the Jet clone of the Tormak when the woodworking show was in town last month. I had also seen the Work Sharp on the web. Dan Like had seen one in action and given it his endorsement. There is a video of it on thier web site if your interested in seeing it in action. Wood Magazine has a review of it as well as a video of it in action.

I don’t own a camera so a neighbor volunteered to film my shop. Its a bit unique so enjoy.I hope it even worked since we don’t know what we are doing. :-) Always willing to learn new things!
