Well today is day 3, the halfway day again! It was a great day today, managed to fix the error I’d made last day by just swapping two pieces so I’m happy about that. I was concerned that my boards may have twisted between classes but the wood must be well and truly dry and acclimatized and I guess there was not too much stress in the boards so far so good. Managed to final dimension all of the pieces (about 12 of them) and just began figuring out the mortise and tenon joints o...

Hello Again, Well after a rough day at work I was really looking forward to today’s course…then I had to go back to work! But its okay I still made it to class early! I’m 2 for 2! Today Ryan demonstrated the bandsaw, disk and spindle sanders. Pretty cool, a huge bandsaw. I will have to measure it’s resaw capacity as it looked about 12 or 13 inches but very deep from the blade to the arm and a huge table. After the demo’s we picked our projects and began ...

Hello All, Well I finally made it on time today, even though it meant we had to hurriedly eat at A&W tonight :-) Although I wasn’t as early as I had planned as when I got to the College I started driving up their steep (and as it turns out very very slippery drive way) where someone was letting off a passenger about halfway up (I thought this was kind of odd, why not just let them off at the top where the buildings are) so I stopped because I wasn’t sure if there was enou...

I’ve been thinking about taking a woodworking course for a couple of years now and this year ACC has enough people signed up and an instructor lined up so they are offering their Woodworking series of classes. I really want to learn about the lathe and such so will go through the pre-requisite courses first.
