Coming Down The Home Stretch
Yesterday I finished the mud work where I removed the double doors. I also took the opportunity to patch the wall and ceiling where flying projectiles had left their impressions.
I mounted a couple of hose reels that I bought several years ago. I had bought three originally and I mounted one but put the other two on the shelf. The first one broke and I tossed it during this round of organization. Now I have two but that is quite adequate for my shop.
I us...

Sorry for the False Start Guys…
I had the privacy setting turned on when I posted to YouTube. (D’oh!)
It’s Finally Here!
Whew! It takes a lot of work to shoot a video, edit, and get it posted to the internet.
I am still struggling with posting to the internet. My HD file sizes are too big to be accepted by BlipTv and YouTube, and once I get the size down to an acceptable limit, they lose quite a bit of quality. This is a bit frustrating and makes me sad to see al...

After 5 months of not woodworking i am finaly back at it. The first words my Fiance said to me were “Thank god you have your shop back. Maybey now you wont be such an ass” Aparently i was driving her crazy. 5 months ago my craftsman tablesaw broke on me. Its an extremley long story. I will just say that when sears could not fix the saw they refused to replace it. Even though i had purchased the factory extended waranty I was told that i needed 5 or more cervice calls in order for ...

I hope that everyone had a good finish to the summer by spending quality time with the family over the long Labor Day weekend. My wife, Rita, and I went kayaking with friends on the Madison and Yellowstone Rivers here in Montana and we covered 17 miles between the two trips. Bald eagles and other wildlife were abundant and the scenery was – well it’s Montana so it was beautiful!
My apologies for not being very active this summer here at LJ and for the lack of providing real...

Woodshop News, a trade magazine called with some interest in my live video feed a couple months ago. I just checked and their digital version of their magazine and the story was posted on their website. It is a short but to the point article about the camera system and how it is used for both marketing and with customer relations.
Check it out at Woodshop News .

Many woodworkers lack confidence in their glue joints. The way to overcome this is by getting to know your products and materials. This is accomplished by experimenting and testing – particularly through destructive testing.
I continually test my off-cuts from every project. This provides a form of quality control testing that is specific to each project.
In this video I show a couple of the methods that I use to test my glue joints. Testing your joints to the point of wood fa...

It seems the laws of nature apply to my workshop. I spent all of last time cleaning it up to make nice open space and what should happen? I got and fill it all up.
Acquiring more tools than space is a national pastime so I’m not sweating it, especially with the sweet deals I’ve been landing.
Turning circuitry into Power tools
I hoard computer parts, its ingrained into my geekdom. Never did I think it would ever help me in my quest for more bigger-badder powertools. Thanks to some...

Attacking the Center
I’ve been sneaking in a few shop hours a night and finally went after the clutter in the middle of the shop ala Gen. Longstreet. This unveiled several potential gloat-worthy tools so here we go…
Gotta get my Gloat in
My Father in Law has a good friend who is slowly moving back to Mississippi and is unloading some excess tools. First thing I got from him was this 80s Craftsman shaper of which he is the original owner, only ran it 2-3 times, is in nea...

Priming OSB
It took two thick coats of drywall primer on my OSB just to get it ready for paint, but it is a drastic improvement over my last attempt of going straight to the latex.
Breaking Child Labor Laws
I’m quick to put my offspring hard to work, I just hope it still works when they’re old enough to mow the lawn
If only I had the clipboard and hardhad I’d qualify for a DOT lead supervisor.
Snow Day
Today we had a bit of snow/slush/ice and after not ...
