I thought “What if I coated the whole ring in cyanoacrylate finish?” ...and I tried it. The rings have since been through regular everyday wear including dishwashings, handwashings and showers. END RESULT: This finish is holding up better than both Waterlox and Arm-R-Seal. And, in my opinion, it actually looks better. Body done, wedge done, plane iron done. If you are anything like me, eagerness to see some shavings has replaced all other desires at this stage! With a bit of luck, paper thin shavings will be curling out of the mouth. Isn’t it great! If not, don’t despair…. LET’S FINE TUNE: 1. True the plane sole. So in the spirit of getting everyone in the shop and cutting up some wood I decided to post up a measured drawing of a 3/4” wooden rabbet plane in the 18th century style.
