WOODTURNING from the Wheelchair(just a copy and paste from www.jamiespeirs.com ) Woodturning is one of the crafts that lends itself towards most disabilities. It can be done in a fairly small area with relatively inexpensive equipment. It is not overly strenuous and can be quick to show results; hence it’s mass popularity. The object of this is not to go into any great detail about woodturing itself, rather on guidelines on what look for in a course or in a tutor. Red Pine Three T...
The reason I started this blog was to show a project that sort of evolved over time – at least a year so far – and illustrates one of the ways I seem to gain enjoyment from messing about in the workshop. I see a lot of small box makers who seem to work this way finding new and unusual ways of creating something from what seem to be left over cutoffs and so on.Anyway I can now show you the finishing touches to this stage of my project – but it is still not finished. It may bec...
As we continue on in our build we get to where we need to build the boxes for our drawers. I run through it and explain about setting up for the drawer slides.

I have been thinking about going into woodworking full time. I like to work with wood all the time, what does that say about me ? Does anyone do woodworking full time ? I just don’t know what would be a good product to make and sell. Does anyone have any ideas ? Some pointers and tips would be good. I like making lathe stuff but I don’t think there is much money in it. Maybe some furniture or boxes ?
Hey everyone,I am in need of some help! I am writing a book called “The Burl Hunter”. I am looking for interested people who are willing to read as I write to help me out. I am not a great writer but I love to teach. What I would like to do is get about 5 people to read and critique the book. Even edit my grammar. I would like 2 people who know about burls just to keep me in check and 3 to just read to learn and see how it flows. I need your input. It is a book that will g...
Had a great time today with Rustic Rick his wife Nancy, Billie J. and his wife Lou Ann, SteveMI, and Myself and my lovely wife Kris. I’ll have to let the other guys tell you what they got cause I wasn’t paying to much attention. Needless to say I couldn’t find any Lathe tools to speak off. Or any thing else ...
