11-17-2013 09:37 AM by Jon1094 | 3 comments »

Mine is made of walnut sides with a bookmatched maple top. The base, sub-base and drawers are ma...

10-14-2013 11:02 AM by PhilBello | 4 comments »

I retired from the UK Police in 2006 after 30 years, and I think I only survived that period of time, because of my love of woodwork, I class myself as a late starter, I used to tinker with bits and pieces, but it wasn’t until I was 21 and my first Father-in-law who was a Chippy, gave me lessons and a few tools, that I decided that woodwork was definitely the hobby for me. In July 2006 I left the Police, and immediately moved to Spain, where I had had property for a number of years, ...

09-30-2013 11:11 PM by Jim Earl | 5 comments »

A while ago I ask you to come up with new ideas for me to use my talent. One of you said to try nature, tree’s animals, then someone said Turkeys, OK I spent two days looking for the right picture. Then three days to come the stage I am now, I will try and go through each stage. and show how I come up t it. Stage one, looking for the right picture; Stage two was putting the pattern onto wood; and the third stage is doing the burning itself. I found a process which is, o...

READY TO START MY WORSE CHALLENGE #1: DRAGONFLY

09-14-2013 05:23 PM by Jim Earl | 7 comments »

Ok Here goes. I have put this off for about two weeks. It has taken me about 9 hours to get it to this point. People thinks that the woodburning they done in high schools is same as what I do. After selecting the picture there is hours pending trying to get the picture just right to transfer everything over to the piece of wood. after you put it on the wood I spend a lot of time going over and over to get the right depth. so with out further ado I give you the DAGON FLY. (OK I AM GOING...

08-13-2013 04:17 AM by Tugboater78 | 3 comments »

Well last night I was piddlin round with an idea to make a ripping fence/jig to attach to my circ saw. The one that came with it apparently grew feet and walked away, when i was on my last boat trip. I have some 9 and 10 foot long SYP 2×10-12s i want to rip the pith out of for a future project. Longest board i can try to rip on my table saw is 8’ give or take an inch. I was trying to rip out some ~1/4” strips to frame out the circ saw base on a piece of plywood. One of the st...
