Well the course is over; I learned a lot and had a lot of fun. I suspect Ryan learned a lot about conducting a classroom and managing the administrative types at the College. I really enjoyed using all the tools and the great setup of their shop. Its given me a lot of ideas to incorporate into my shop, a bench, vise and mortising attachment for my drill press are all pretty high priorities now…just after getting the new tablesaw. I had an extremely frustrating evening. We had 3 hours to work on our projects and I seem to make mistakes every other minute!!! I even poked myself with largeish splinter when the stupid dreaded miserable *^%$#@ rebate plane blew out the corner of the tenon I was trimming to size! Yeah I now realize I should have backed it up, but it and I were fighting all evening, I eventually switched to a rasp (what is the emoticon for frustrated woodworker!) I used to hate students like me who know when the course starts but still show up late, mea culpa. I was 15 minutes late again today as I had to go into Winnipeg for my uncle’s funeral today. Usually we can drive in and out in good time but today the roads were terrible, with semis, pickups and cars littering the ditches along the Trans Canada… anyway we got there and back safely although at one point I thought I was going to have to attend a smash up on a bridge, but fortunatel...
