LumberJocks I have met... #4: One good turn...

Or actually many good turns… While in Sydney recently, I was fortunate enough to catch up with a fellow LumberJock, Sam Shakouri who is a member of the Sydney Woodturners… check out there site... This man is one of the most talented wood turners I have met.. I am holding one of Sam’s turnings, a soccer ball, in my hand… Many have turned some beautiful work, but only a few have taken segmented turning into the 3D world… Just a few more pics.. ...

Springfield MA WoodWorking Show

I went to the show today and wasn’t disappointed. It was a small show this year probably because the show was running simultaneously with the Baltimore show that Karson blogged about yesterday. So I think some of the vendors chose Baltimore. Even still there was enough to look at and vendors to talk with. There were several router accessories vendors the two that were most impressive-1. Prazi ChestMate which is a nice setup because you can adjust the spaces between your joints and it...

Going to local shows. #34: Featured stand at Brisbane.

Each show I attend, I make a point of featuring one stand… this year at the Timber and Working with Wood Show the stand that caught my eye ..My good friend Brian’s company, Sitco, had a great display of Solomon Island Queen Ebony including some great carvings from the Islands… Not a great set up but the timber and the carvings really stood out.. I managed to pick up some small sticks of the Ebony for use as accents in a lazy larry or two, and also as stripes in a c...
