1695 days ago by Martin Sojka | 32 comments »

And here it is: Yin Yang – the dark and the light. Where would one be without the other? Create a project that uses colour (dark and light wood, stains, etc.) to convey how contrasts work together to make the whole....

LJ Woodworking Awards - Winter 2008 #7: Interview With The Winners

2352 days ago by Martin Sojka | 17 comments »

How does success in our Winter Awards feel? Gary: It feels strange. I am honored that so many of my woodworking peers liked my work. I think that this is the highest complement you can obtain. Ryan: It really feels great. As the “new guy” on the board, I am amazed at this welcome. The project was a tough one, taking a picture from your mind’s eye and shaping it out of wood is tough enough…add a 2X4 into the equation, and results are seldom what you intended...

My Journey As A Scroll Saw Pattern Designer #780: Cracking Up

720 days ago by Sheila Landry (scrollgirl) | 14 comments »

Well, I will start out this morning by saying that I think I am ‘cracking up.’ Maybe it’s because I have been using this crackle paint on my new snowmen, or maybe it is just me, but I am certainly not thinking the way I should be. As I showed yesterday, I am using a product...

I miss my shop in the winter. #2: SPRING!

483 days ago by gforcegarcia | 14 comments »

Well, I finally got out in the shop for the first time in 2013! I covered my tools with tarps to slow the winter rust. It wasn’t too bad. A little surface rust on the tables. Nothing some WD-40, T-9, and paste wax couldn’t handle. I also decided to remove the Rockler router table from my table saw. I could never get the height right. It made it hard to cut accurately.I am still going to use the router table, but build a new dedicated base for it. I upgraded my lighting this wint...
